I must have been living under a rock, because the term actually dates back to 725 or so. Who knew? Well, a friend recently asked me if I could make her one. She shot me a pic and I was like "well sure I can make that!" I checked out some Esty stores and they are really quite the rage.
Now, the snood has evolved over the centuries and it hasn't always been cute. Dowdy might be a good descriptor. But today's version is darn sassy. It's basically a tubular cowl-style scarf that can also act as a hood. Kind of "Riding Hood-Chic", if you will.
Check out these two versions that I did for my friend. One for her and one as a gift for her to give. She gave me creative liscense with color - just specified cool colors - which work great with her stunning blue eyes.
The blue/green one is a soft, lighter yarn weight and drapes quite nicely.
The pink/purple is a chunkier yarn and has a more substantial drape.
If you haven't already seen these around, I'm sure you will start to notice them. Because what girl doesn't love a multi-purpose accessory?
By the way, the model above is not my friend ; )
Until next time!
